Position: Leave & Accommodation Specialist

The Leave & Accommodation Specialist manages and supports FRHC’s leave of absence, accommodation, and workers’ compensation return-to-work programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and company policies and provides excellent support to employees and managers.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and track Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), state-specific leaves, and company leave policies.
  • Guide employees through the leave process, ensuring timely submission of required documentation.
  • Respond to new ADA accommodation requests, facilitate the interactive process and collaborate with managers to determine and implement reasonable accommodations.
  • Manage, monitor, and track accommodations, ensuring compliance with ADA and company policies.
  • Monitor and track workers’ compensation claims that require leave or light-duty.
  • Work with managers to identify light-duty work assignments for employees returning from work-related injuries.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave and return-to-work programs.
  • Train and educate managers on leave policies, accommodations, and return-to-work procedures.
  • Provide reports and analytics on leave trends, light-duty cases, and compliance risks.
  • Stay up to date on and ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation laws, and state/local regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • 1+ year of experience in leave administration, benefits, workers’ compensation, or HR-related roles
    • Strong understanding of FMLA and ADA laws
    • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of state leave laws for Washington, Oregon, and Colorado
    • Knowledge of workers’ compensation rules
    • SHRM or HRCI certification
    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field
